Visual basic is a stand alone, compiled language, with its own Integrated Development Environment (IDE), which includes a language editor, debugger, form designer, project manager, source code control integration, wizards, and other features that facilitate application development. VB provides a full set of language features, including the ability to access the Windows API, which is a set of low-level functions that allow an application to directly access the functionality of the windows operating system.
