VBScript and JavaScript

VBScript is not alone in world of scripting languages. It is not even alone in the world of scripting languages produced by Microsoft. Microsoft also produces and fully supports JavaScript, which can be used just about anywhere that VBScript can be used. Before VBScript version 5, JavaScript provided more features than VBScript. A while back, Microsoft pleaded to keep VBScript on a par with JavaScript when it comes to features and capabilities. They will always remain separate languages., with different syntax and different ways of accomplishing the same thing, but Microsoft's goal is to make the choice of which Microsoft scripting language to use a matter of preference, not necessary. JavaScript is closer in the nature of its syntax to C, and therefore C and C++ programmers might be more comfortable using JavaScript. JavaScript is also compatible with the ECMA Script standard.
